We Gained A Sister

I wanted to share this a while back, but I was only able to get these images up on Facebook. School, work, and children kept me busy!  But now that I am finally finished with school (Wahoo!), I want to share some of my work that I am proud of.  I have learned a lot along the way - even since I shot this back in December.  If I had it to do all over again, I would shoot differently in regards to lighting, and I would edit a few of them differently too.  That being said, I am still very proud of what I accomplished.  It helps that I have the most gorgeous couple to work with!  I can't say enough about how beautiful they are inside and out.  They made my job super easy.
The groom is my wonderful brother, Chris, and his gorgeous bride is our new sister, Amber.  I, and I really mean we - as in me and Dan, and our entire family - are so happy that they are together.  You can see the love on their faces and the happiness they exude in all of these pictures.  The ceremony and the entire day was full of emotions and laughter, and my cheeks literally hurt at the end of the day from smiling so much.  There are tons of images to share and it was really dang difficult to pick out which ones to showcase.  So these are my favorites, but there are a bazillion more on my website if you want to go check them out.  www.timelessmemoriesarcadia.com under the online proofing section.

Many blessings to you, my lovely family!

Spring has Sprung

I love these images so much that I had to share them now - over weddings, babies, and other beautiful images that I keep saying I'm gonna post.  These are just gorgeous.  I really love that these are SOOC (straight out of camera) images taken with the 50mm lens and some great late afternoon light.  Enjoy!

New Website!! New Website!! New Website!! :)

Can you tell that we are super duper excited??!!

After countless hours of laboring, the new website is finally up!  It has been a long road and a tedious task.  Everything on there has been created by moi, so all of the backgrounds that you see are collages put together from scratch in photoshop.  I have this idea of an organic look that I wanted ever since I snapped pics of our kids blowing dandelions in the wind last year.  I love the look and template of my blogger site, and tried to recreate it in the format that worked for our website.  I love the flash slideshows and the galleries.  It has been really difficult choosing what images to put into those galleries!

When I said it was like birthing a baby, I was not kidding.  SO much time, work, and effort has gone into this.  I TOTALLY understand now why web design is so expensive.  I would not have done this for anyone else without getting paid some serious $$$.  At least I have been able to save that money and learned a lot in the process.  I can even write some of my own HTML code. ;)

I spent about 12 hrs today just trying to get the site up and active.  Seriously.  12 hrs just today.  My poor kids.  We put Disney movies on all day and they lounged about while I had 2 computers going at the same time trying to get this all published.  When we thought it was all ready, we uploaded, crossed our fingers, held our breath, and drum roll......rrrrrrrrr.....everyone gathered around the computer.....and nothing.  Sigh.

Ever see Christmas Vacation?  Ya, that was us.  Like multiple times.  We would get all excited and nothing would happen.  After multiple google searches, Dan's computer expertise, several phone calls, and many live chat help sessions with our hosting service, we finally figured out the problem. They had to enable a public view folder.  That's it.  One little folder.   Everyone else was/is asleep, so I got all excited by myself, crossed my fingers again, held my breath, and clicked on it, AND IT WORKED!!  Then I cried!  Yep.  Just like birthing a baby.  After all that work, it's finally here.  And I am thrilled.  So thrilled in fact, that I had to go wake everyone up! So without further ado, here it is:

Birthing a Website

I have SO much on my plate right now it's not even funny.  I should be working on picture orders.  Actually, I should be sleeping.  I'm back to my average of 2-3 hrs of sleep at random times.  Of course this is partially due to the last few weeks of my Master's degree (yay!), and partially my own fault for getting this bug up my shiny-hiney to completely re-design my webpage.  It could very easily wait a few weeks, and I doubt anyone would notice the difference.  It's just I thought that 1) It would be easier than this, 2) I would have been done with it by now, and 3) I started changing it and don't want to stop!  I have put A TON of work into this and DO NOT want to lose any of it, so I keep chugging away at it.  Fingers crossed I can deliver this baby and publish it on the web by next week.  We'll see what happens ;)

Here's a peek at what I'm designing.  Look familiar?
