A little fun at home

Sometimes photography is not about the posed portraits, but about capturing simple moments of life.  For example, my children love to run around the yard with our dogs.  In fact, we have great fun creating races between my son Drew and our puppy Chili.  So far, Chili has not lost a single race.  Life has taught us that these moments are fleeting, and it is best to get the camera out and capture them before time and circumstances change us.

I took this opportunity to experiment with different settings on the camera.  Shooting in full manual, I tried a variety of settings to create different looks.  Learning to use the camera on various settings, and knowing my equipment helps me to be a better photographer.  It's fun to take the time to try new things, and I suggest that everyone should put aside some time in their day to try something new and hug the ones you love!

Here are the results of my experiment.  Enjoy!

Welcome to our new blog!

Well, we've decided to jump on the blogging bandwagon.  We have so many pictures that we love to share with the world, that we thought it would be great if we were able to give a little back story to go along with them.  Our love for photography spans from documenting our daily and hectic lives to creating artistic works of art.

These portraits were done in our small studio, and feature a little man who came to us only a few days old.  He was one of our best baby models and was extra cooperative with everything that we did to him.  So without further ado, here's some eye candy to get us started:
